First days of school!

Addi started first grade on July 28th! It was so hard sending her to school for the WHOLE DAY! I can't believe she is already 6 years old!!! I was concentrating so hard on being strong and not crying (in front of her at least) when we took her to her first day. I forgot to take Mia's feelings into consideration and when it was time to say goodbye, she was so sad. She said, "Don't go to school Addi". When I saw her bawling, I lost it also. I eventually got over it, but I miss her so much during the day. After a few days Mia got used to it also. She realized that she got to be "Mommy's girl" for the whole day. Addi's favorite thing about first grade is school lunch! I guess it is now "cool" to eat school lunch. I told her that she needed to take cold lunch a couple times a week so she could use her new Hello Kitty lunchbox that she wanted soooo bad! She is doing so well in all her subjects and her favorite is math. She has made a lot of new friends and has a new "best friend" each day.

Mia started her first year of preschool on August 26th! It was so cute, but I really wanted to stay with her at school. Since she is my baby, I wasn't ready to let go of her yet. She was totally ready to let go of me, though! She told me that I didn't need to walk her in on her first day because she was a big girl! She was disappointed when she didn't get any homework and wants to know why she can't stay and eat lunch at school like Addi. One step at a time, Mia! She just wants to do everything that her big sister does.
My two school girls-how crazy!!!

Summer

Yes, I am a slacker!!! I thought I would keep this current, but apparently not. Here is a quick update of our lives:
This summer was very busy and fun! Bo and I started it off by taking a weekend trip to San Francisco (a delayed anniversary trip). It was great fun! We got to do things that you can't really do with two little ones. We shopped, went to dinner, went sightseeing at Alcatraz, and rented bikes to ride across the Golden Gate bridge. Well OK, we didn't make it all the way across(my fault, not Bo's) but it was still really fun. We also got to visit my aunt and cousins while we were there. We don't get to see them as often as we like, so we had a really nice time!

In June, we celebrated Addison's 6th birthday. She wanted to have a friend's party at the Build-a-Bear workshop, which was quite fun! The kids decorated bears, took funny pictures, and then came back to our house for treats. Addi had a blast! We also had our family over for Hannah Montana cake and ice cream. She is sure is spoiled! Addi also performed in her second violin recital. She is a born performer and did a wonderful job!

Mia made her debut playing soccer this year. Addi also played on an older team. Mia didn't enjoy it as much as we thought she would, but it helped having a best friend on the team. Addi enjoyed it quite a bit and I think that was due to Daddy being her coach!!! It was so much fun watching Bo coach a bunch of 5 and 6 year olds.....talk about patience! Thank you to all those who came to support the girls. It meant more to them to have friends and family there, than to actually play soccer!!!

Since school was out, I decided to put the girls in swim lessons. They did their lessons every morning for 9 weeks and made great progress. They both swim like little fishies now! After lessons they would beg to go the neighborhood pool, or Grandma Julie's pool to do more swimming. After wearing out three swimsuits each, you'd think that they would be sick of swimming, but they still aren't! Kids will be kids.

Bo has also been keeping busy this summer. He has riden in 3 bike races, and done 1 triathalon so far. I think he is crazy, but I am glad that he is passionate about something that promotes good health. He has managed to get me mountain biking, but I don't think I will ever be a road biker (he thinks I am afraid of the toe clips, but it's mostly the bike shorts that frighten me)! Bo has also managed to be on a softball league with his brother Natey this year. He had to miss some of the games, due to his travel schedule for work, but the girls and I enjoyed coming to watch the games that he did play. His team ended up taking first place! Way to go!
Between sports, we managed to squeeze in a bunch of play days. We went to Lagoon twice, camped a few times, went to the planetarium, Discovery Gateway, and just hung out with our cousins and friends. It was nice having Olivia and her family in town to play with. My friend Krystalyn and her new baby, Kohen were also here for the summer and it was nice to spend time with her.
We have some exciting news in our extended family. The girls have two new cousins! Claire (Wyatt & Lindsey) was born May 12, and we got to meet her a few weeks later when they came to SLC for the summer. Boy, is she cute! We were sad when they left to go back to Boston. A week and a half later, Caitlin (Nate & Mary Ann) was born. We were lucky enough to meet her a couple minutes after she was born. It was so exciting, and she is a doll! All these babies are making me baby hungry, oh no!!!
Well, I have finally decided to sort of quit my job at Primary Children's. I needed to cut back my hours because of the kids school schedules and other activities. After chatting with my boss, we decided that I could quit my regular part time shift, but still stay on PRN (as needed). This has worked out so nice! I love being at home with the girls to play and stay involved in their activities, but I also get to work a few shifts a month. I really like this arrangment because I enjoy my job, have a lot of friends at work, and I don't feel like I'm giving up my education. It's pretty nice!
