Last year I rode in the Harmons MS 150 - this year they changed the name back to the 2008 Harmons Best Dam Bike Ride - which brings a smile to my face, because the ride takes us through areas of Utah that my grandpa grew up in, and he would agree that it probably is the best dam bike ride ;)
This is a fantastic ride for a great cause! The group I road with again this year was the Lifetime Fitness Team - this is the gym our family goes to. We fielded the largest team this year with over 170 riders!!! All of us in those nice red shirts! Don't we look impressive!? As a team we've raised over $52k so far - and will likely go over $60k once the final results are in. Not too shabby for a second year team...
While up in Logan we heard about and saw some amazing people. One lady we met while riding with MS came in from New York to ride with sisters - she did great! Mike - the gentleman standing to my right has a brother who is in the early stages of MS as well - Dan is his name and he's an amazing father - 5 adopted sons, and his wife Jen just gave birth to another son.
All of us in the picture above live in the same neighborhood and we all ride to help fund research and programs that will help those with MS in life. Not only that but we've forged great friendships through our rides together over the past several months.
Anyone can ride - they have a 40 mile, 75 mile or 100 mile route on Saturday - and 40 miles really isn't that far on a bike when you have rest stops every 10 miles or so. I plan to do this again next year so let me know if you're interested!
